How can I make my first appointment?
Doing that is extremely easy – just call us, send us a message via our website or pop straight into the clinic if you are located somewhere near it. Once you do that, you will be asked to describe the issue that you are experiencing, so that we can assign you to the right specialist and make the appointment with the specialist in question at a time which suits both of you.
How much will my first appointment cost?
It depends on the issue that you have encountered and the therapist whose help is required to deal with it. We keep the costs of our primary consultations extremely competitive at all times, so you can rest assured in the knowledge that you will be able to afford it without any difficulty.
Will I have to pay for any therapy sessions in advance?
You can pay in advance if you choose to do so, but we normally bill our clients and receive the payment once the session is over, regardless of its type or the specialist who provides it. You will be informed about the price of one session as soon as your primary consultant recommends it to you, but you can also contact us if you are interested in the costs of any specific therapies that we offer.
Who will I deal with first?
Your journey will start with our qualified receptionists, who will listen to your complaint and assign you to the therapist who is the most suitable to deal with your ailment – in most cases, it is one of our trusted osteopaths. After your first appointment with your assigned specialist, s/he will either continue treating you or will direct you to a different therapist within our clinic if s/he feels that another specialist would be better suited to solve the issue at hand.
What qualifications do your osteopaths have?
Every one of our osteopaths is a member of the Institute of Osteopathy and is registered with the General Osteopathic Council. They have also received relevant medical education and specialist osteopathic training, and are provided with continuing professional education at the British School of Osteopathy by our company. All of our therapists are required to provide you with the evidence of their qualifications if asked to do so.
What treatments do you offer?
We have a wide variety of treatments available – they include a number of massaging techniques, stretching exercises, joint manipulation and lots of other options. Contact us, book an appointment and we will do our best to find a treatment that works for you.
What specific issues can your osteopaths treat?
The field of osteopathy is extremely varied and our therapies can be used to treat a great number of ailments. If you experience arthritis, back pain, neck pain, persistent headaches, sports-related injuries, sciatica, pregnancy complications, postural issues, digestive problems or neuralgia, we are sure that we can help you.
How long does one treatment session last?
Depending on the type of treatment that you are receiving, one session can last anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours. More complex therapies naturally take longer to complete and are a tiny bit costlier, but you are guaranteed to feel the difference they have on your general well-being in no time.
Will I experience any discomfort during or after the treatment session?
All of the therapies on offer at Osteo Cheltenham are extremely gentle and non-invasive, however, as they focus on problem areas and include a lot of physical work, you might feel some pain during the session once your specialist reaches the centre of the issue. You should inform your therapist immediately if the pain becomes too much for you to bear. You might also feel sore once the treatment session is over, but that usually passes in less than 24 hours.
Do you offer preventive treatment as well?
Yes, we do, as such treatment, especially when it is related to the spine and the back muscles, can strongly benefit modern office workers, students and other sedentary people who might not be experiencing any pain at the moment, but are at risk of developing it in the future due to their lifestyle. Contact us and we will discuss the available options with you.
What will an osteopath do if s/he discovers a problem that cannot be treated by means of osteopathy?
Osteopaths are not only great at providing various therapies, but are also adept at diagnosing any issues that you might have. If our specialists discover a problem which cannot be sufficiently treated by osteopathic techniques, they will direct you to the relevant doctors working in other fields and recommend the best specialists for the problem at hand.
Can you help me deal with stress, insomnia and other non-physical problems?
It has been shown that massages and other osteopathic techniques can significantly reduce stress, improve one’s ability to relax and ease the symptoms of insomnia. There have even been cases where osteopathy helped patients manage their depression – so yes, it can work as a treatment for psychological issues. You are welcome to contact us if you would like to discuss the possibility of giving such therapy a try.
What methods of payment do you accept?
You can pay us in cash, by credit or debit card, or by cheque after your treatment session. We also offer an option of transferring the money straight to our bank account, if other means of payment are not available at the moment.
What should I do if your treatment is too expensive for me?
Sadly, osteopathic remedies are usually not available on the NHS – however, if you have fallen on hard times and osteopathy is a necessity, we are sometimes able to compromise and offer a reduced price to the patients who are facing serious financial struggles. Such an option is not regularly offered, but we are willing to discuss it with you nonetheless.
Can I pay for all of my upcoming sessions in one go?
Yes, you can do that. We will gladly discuss such an option with you at any time during the treatment or primary consultation.
